Alice in Wonderland Special Church Edition

I was concerned about this book possibly approaching the story from some kind of ultra-conservative religious approach. I was pleasantly surprised.

The book has the original story. The annotations are done by Stephen Skelton about I estimated around 90% of them or more deal with straight facts that are interesting and that make sense. The ones that have a religious basis are not overdone at all. They are all totally understandable, not extreme and at times present a very interesting insight into the story.

The book opens with Christmas and Easter greetings Dodgson wrote for other editions of Alice in Wonderland. One of the best parts of the annotations is when Skelton list's the best traits of Alice which include her loving nature, her being loving, courteous, trustworthy, truthful and wildly curious. That's very well thought out.

Perhaps the best religious for the story is taken from 1 Thessalonians 5:14-15 when Paul says 'And we urge you, brothers, warn those who are idle, encourage the timid, help the weak, be patient with everyone. Make sure that nobody pays back wrong for wrong, but always try to be kind to each other and to everyone else. Good advice (other then that she should have said brothers and sisters.)
