Murder in Wonderland: The Teacup Theory

A young woman named Alice ends up in Wonderland only to find that the White Queen has been murdered. Before she can deal with that she's kidnapped and hauled away in a bag.

There's the Queen of Hearts but not quite the Queen of the book. This one is a drag Queen with all the nastiness of the original Queen of Hearts. Alice is put on trial and, of course, found guilty. Another problem is that someone wants her to have a baby.

The Teacup Theory is explained by the Tweedles. The other traditional characters are basically shapeshifters. There's a town that's asleep, a drug lord, the Carpenter (vile), a captive walrus that eats people, someone gets beheaded and the possibility that all of Wonderland could be destroyed.

I think that in general the story handles the Alice in Wonderland material fairly well. The characters are somewhat different, of course, but they're still recognizable. There's the murder mystery part, an over-the-top villain and an interesting link between our Earth and Wonderland. Worth a read.
