Alice's Adventures In Wonderland/Through the Looking Glass

The original version of Alice in Wonderland. This one consists of only four chapters. The early actions are pretty similar to those in the later published book. The caucus race is not done; instead the mouse has everyone come to a house to hear him talk.

The white rabbit is not worried about the Duchess; he's worried about the Marchioness. The situation at the house of the white rabbit is pretty much the same. The caterpillar incident is basically the same except for the mushroom; in the regular version she gets bits from both sides; in this original version she gets a bit from the top and some from the bottom.

Also, there's no tea party and no cheshire cat. There's also some differences with her meeting with the Gryphon and the Mock Turtle. The trial is much shorter. There's also a postscript and a section entitled Who Will Riddle Me the How and the Why? There's also a section entitled An Easter Greeting to Every Child Who Loves Alice. Then there's Christmas Greetings from a Fairy to a Child.

It's interesting to compare this to the well-known version and see how a lot was added to the story before it was actually published.
