The Magic Token

This is at times an absolutely hilarious story. Imagine taking Alice (1862) and having her meet, in Wonderland, Emma, a young black girl from 2005. It's a culture clash that can even drive Wonderland crazy.

Emma gets into Wonderland by using a magic token. She tries to convince Alice that Alice is not real, but just a fictional character. Emma is also sort of on the outspoken side. Being black, everyone she meets in the (English) wonderland thinks she's a runaway slave, her being black and being from America and all, and that upsets her quite a bit.

Not as much, though, as comments about her ears.

She calls the caterpillar 'cocoon face,' gets drunk at the tea party, gets insulted by the Cheshire Cat ('Are those two brown blobs human ears, or is your hair infested with the sort of lice that once tormented the dinosaurs?'), calls the cat 'whisker face' and even berates the Queen.

Alice and Emma get along pretty well and the story actually has a lot of dialogue from the original story. This is a really fun read for those who like Alice in Wonderland.
