Behind the Scenes

The development of the Alice in Wonderland film is discussed. Many scenes were drawn but not used in the film. Art by David Hall is show. It was drawn for a 1939 version of the film that never ended up being made.

A major difference from the released film is this bridge coming out from a castle that was surrounded by a moat. When the door is open Alice enters the castle of the duchess.

I can see why some people thought the drawings were a little too scary for the film.

The baby had been crying (probably hungry) so the duchess takes a large bottle, removes the cork and stuffs it into the baby's mouth. The cook gets angry at the duchess and starts throwing things at her. Alice grabs the baby and flees.
