Insanity: Checkmate

The darkest of all the books so far. A villain called the Chessmaster has gathered world leaders together to play chess against him. He's never lost a game and the cost for losing to him is death.

Alice meets an new character, Dude, and we meet someone else from the books, Father Williams. A good bit of background is given for the Pillar. It's revealed that the Chessmaster hates Alice with an intense passion.

He's maneuvering Alice and the Pillar so that he can eventually force Alice to play chess with him and die. He never learned the motto 'don't count your chickens before they're hatched.'

A dark but good addition to the series.
