Alice

This is the single best Alice variation book I have yet read. It starts off with Alice and a man named Hatter in an insane asylum. Everyone in this version are real people even though the keep their Wonderland names such as Caterpillar and the White Rabbit.

The asylum burns down and Alice and the Hatter manage to escape. They flee to the Old City which is an area of dismal poverty. Their tasks? Destroy the Jabberwock(an evil magician), deal with the White Rabbit (who had abused Alice), deal with Caterpillar (who runs a brothel), deal with the Walrus (who sexually abuses young girls and then eats them while doing that) and, at the same time, deal with the goons representing the various bosses. There's also the Cheshire Cat who plays a major role in what is going on.

The story, bluntly, is about justice being done to some extremely evil men who deserved everything that ends up happening to them. It's one of the rare books that I've seen that I have wnated to keep reading straight on and not move between various books.
