Alice: The Wonderland Chronicles

This Alice leaves in a reality where a virus causes people to become ultra violent (called Momraths). Some are carriers of the virus. Her sister becomes ill so Alice sets out to find a doctor who might have a cure.

Her older sister is named Dinah. Her father's last name is Carroll. A guy named Chess helps her during her quest. This leads her to Borogrove Industries and a mad scientist named Hatter. There's also a monster named March.

Get the idea? The book uses names from Alice in Wonderland even though it has absolutely nothing to do with the actual book. It's a story of a girl (who could have any name) trying to survive in a world gone mad (do to a virus) and trying to find a cure for her sick sister (who also could have had any name.) Everyone she runs into that has a name taken from Alice in Wonderland could have been named pretty much anything without any change to the story.

It's a good story, don't get me wrong, but it's yet another one that for some reason sees the need to tie itself into Alice in Wonderland even though it would otherwise been fine without any such references.
