Alice: Queen of Hearts

Hardback, 2015, British, 218 pages. Alice is a grown woman who is a painter. She takes a lover who leaves when the winter comes. 'He' calls to her and she ends up entering Wonderland.

She's supposed to be the new Queen of Hearts and live with him happily ever after. Yep. Sure. She's almost raped by Mr. Tailor, runs into more violence, goes through an area of forest with massacred cats and, all the time, keeps whining over 'him' and how much she loves him and wants to be with him.

The whining seems to take up around three-quarters of the book or so. The book just doesn't work for me at all. It's basically boring and I don't feel sorry for her or her obsession with 'him.'
