Alice in Wonderland, Kraft Television Theater, 1954

Edgar Bergen and Charlie McCarthy were a vantriloquist act of the time and were quite famous. They follow Alice down the rabbit hole. The production uses a lot of the actual wordage from the original story. There are some variations in what happens, though. There is also some material from Through the Looking Glass.

In the scene where Alice is in the room of many doors she doesn't eat a piece of cake to get bigger; she crawls up the table to get the key. The caterpillar scene is very interesting since the caterpillar has a rather nasty verbal tone to her.

Edgar Bergen and Charlie McCarthy also take an active role in the play, talking to the caterpillar after Alice has moved on to somewhere else.

The production is also a musical.
