The Madder Hatter

The story starts out five days after the funeral of the Mad Hatter. Abner is his song but doesn't really react well to things, burning down the hat and tea shop his father ran. He moves to a secluded cabin, one good reason being that when he sees a hat he tends to destroy the hat with peripheral damage to whoever is wearing it.

Before long we're aware of the Castle of Hearts, the Kingdom of Spades, a badly injured Cheshire Cat, an ice monarch and a possible portal to Earth so Abner can find Alice. Prison awaits him, though, with a possibility of further developments in a sequel.
