Alice Through the Looking Glass – 1987

Alice

Alice is imagining all sorts of things. This is the mirror, not the traditional over-the-mantle one.

There's some lightning and suddenly the mirror glows. (I finished watching Quatermass and the Pit yesterday. Glowing objects – bad.)

Her hand goes through the mirror.

This is what she finds on the other side of the looking glass.

She encounters something.

It's the royal court jester. He works for the White Queen in the first square. He then announces that 'This is Chessland.' He also later starts singing.

Chessland.

The White Queen.

The Jester imitates some people. The only problem with this is that a very young person watching this would have no idea at all who these people are. (I do know who they are, so I'm a little more than very young.)

The Queen gives Alice permission to try to become a queen herself, so she will be starting on square 2. The jester uses teleportation to get her to the start. He sings another song to give Alice some pointers how to act like a queen.

Okay. These are supposed to be bumble bees, I think.

There are centaurs and unicorns there.

There's also a Pegasus.

The train to take her across square three.

She needs to take a ferry to the next square (but there is no water.)

The Tweedles.

A vampire Humpty Dumpty? He claims to be a dinosaur egg.

Now we see the rest of him. Time for another song.

She's trying to cross a hanging bridge when a bunch of creatures get on and try to shake her off.

The White Knight arrives and drives the creatures off.

There are all sort of strange creatures that attack Alice.

The Jabberwock. The Red Queen tells him she wants Alice stopped.

The Jabberwock joins the Bandersnatch for a song.

The Red Queen believes she has locked Alice out of the castle, but she's wrong.

The Red Queen is using her evil wizard to try to get Alice out. Alice and the Jester end up fleeing and are chased by various people and things.

Alice escapes through the mirror.

Then it turns out to have been a dream.
