The Misadventures of Merlin Jones (book)

Merlin is a genius science student at college. Jennifer is also at the college as is Normal, a punk football player.

Stanley is a chimpanzee that is in a lab overseen by Norman. Merlin likes Stanley but Norman doesn't. Merlin studies about hypnotism and manages to hypnotize Stanley and a kitten.

Merlin also has a tendency to run afoul of the law although not for anything serious. This results in him appearing fairly often in a judge's courtroom.

Merlin invents a brain-boasting machine which has a side-effect of him developing telepathy which leads to the belief that a certain person is really a master crook and is planning to murder someone. This leads to some more rather funny problems but it all works out well in the end.

A slightly entertaining book.
