Forests of the Night

The story opens with Newland walking around a room, picking up bottles and reading the danger labels on them.

A woman tells a guy that Ted hasn't come home from a hunting trip.

The two guys talk after the woman says she's going to the police and leaves the room.

The two are driving to the cabin. They talk about a Chinese device that one of them threw into a fire. The story then goes into a flashback.

It's raining and they want to do something fun. One guy checks out some games and finds a copy of the I Ching, the Chinese 'device.'

One guy reads the instructions. The sticks are put into a hexagon shape and the other guy holds another one. There is supposed to be some kind of spell. They ignore the danger warning.

The one guy's symbol is a tiger.

The guy holds hims arms like a tiger's.

One of the guys wakes him up. The 'tiger' guy says he was a leopard in a jungle and everything was afraid of him.

The next day the three are out hunting. The one guy has been sleeping then moves like a leopard would.

Ted, the 'tiger' runs off from the other two and then corners a bear in a tree.

Ted insists on trying the game again.

A guy throws a pillow at Ted and Ted attacks him.The flashback ends. The two guys get to the cabin. A cop tells them that people have been reporting a leopard in the area and there are various hunting parties out now looking for it. They hear a shot. Newland then comes on and says a leopard had been killed. Further, no trace of Ted was ever found.
