The Gift

The episode starts off talking about whether or not the future can be foretold and mentions gypsies. The story takes place in England.

The woman is the man's mother. He's been fooling around with a widow and tells his mother the woman's name and other information,thus helping her mother to try to fool the woman as she does her 'reading' on the woman.

There's a really odd thing. At one point the mother and her son are talking and the trailer is in the background. Then, quite suddenly, the background shifts to show the forest but with the two people in the same place as they had been a split second before. This is around 3 minutes and 50-60 seconds into the episode/

The woman shows up for the reading and the mother starts with her fake reading.

Then the mother has a real vision. She sees a guy that has just killed the woman. The mother is really upset and kicks the woman out of the trailer. The son confronts the mother outside the trailer and threatens to hurt her if she makes them leave there and go south.

She tells her son that she had a vision of the woman being killed by a guy with curly black hair just like her son has.

Then there's another sudden jump and the son is talking to a guy who talks about a possible job but the son laughs at any idea of actually working for a living.

The woman has another vision and this times sees the face of the killer. Shortly after her son shows up with a guy he knows and the same woman who is definitely drunk. Another really odd thing. The trailer has been moved and is now in the city/town although we never saw it actually moved.

She comes up with a good idea. She tells a policeman that she knows about a thief and takes him to her son, claiming her son stole the ring from a woman. The ring was actually given to him but she is trying this approach to make sure her son stays away from the woman and doesn't kill her.

The mother then confronts the woman. The son shows up. The woman lets him know she doesn't like him at all. He demands she go with him somewhere. The son attacks the woman and the mother pulls her son off but in the tussel the woman falls over the fence and is killed. Newland asks if the future is fated or can it be changed.
