Causes the Actresses are involved in

Both actresses are also involved in various causes. For example:

Both Tyne Daly and Sharon Gless were in a conference on Capitol Hill about the 1995 Fair Pay Act. They were referred to as "the most popular working women ever to grace the small screen." The news conference even had clips from the new Cagney & Lacey movie scheduled for May, 1995.

Both actresses were involved in NOW's 20th Anniversary Show, appearing in the show and in a videotape of the show in a section on Judicial Sexism.

An article in the April 10, 1995 issue of The Virginian-Pilot noted that Sharon Gless was a speaker at a national Rally for Women's Lives held in Washington, D.C. The "official" count of participants at the rally was 50,000, although NOW President Patricia Ireland estimated the crowd at 200,000.

A different source added that Tyne Daly was also at the rally, and that she and Sharon Gless were among the chief speakers. Another source noted that the rally was endorsed by 702 national and local groups and included young activists from over 200 college campuses.
