Gokusen Episode 3

She looks over some surveys her students filled out and gets quite upset which most of them have rather dumb answers.

There's been a rash of purse thefts recently and it appears that the person is a male student and could be from their school.

Just after she was talking to herself about how her students had a good side and shouldn't always be suspected of causing all the trouble there is she walks into the room and gets hit with chalk.

She finds out that one of her students has fallen behind on paying his tuition, his father is dead and his mother works part-time so she goes to talk to his mother.

Another purse-snatching happens and this time there ends up being a sketch of the thief, the sketch blown up into posters. The teachers examine the posters and it looks like the person might be a kid from Yamaguchi's class, the one she was talking to the mother of just recently.

Unknown to Yamaguchi, her students are planning to do a stakeout to try and clear her student's name.

While Yamaguchi and four of her students plan their stakeout they see the head teacher being thrown out of someplace totally drunk.

She decides that the best thing to do is for her to be a decoy and for the students to do a stakeout in order to catch the thief in the act.

It turns out the reason the suspected student has been skipping school is that he's been looking for a job to help out with money at home.

Yamaguichi in disguise.

The thief doesn't go after her (her clothes are too tacky according to one of her students), but they see him and catch him anyhow.

The thief turns out to be the manager at an arcade. They turn him over to the police and her class gets an award.

Just as things were looking up Yamaguchi and some of her students find out the one student they cleared got in trouble anyhow, this time for beating up another student. It turns out that he was defending a puppy he had befriended from another student who was throwing rocks at it.

Yamaguchi is trying to get the student not to drop out of school. It turns out he really wants to drop out so he can get a job and ease the burden on her mother who passed out the previous month.

Yamaguchi confronts the student who abused the dog.
