Dark Shadows episode 13

Roger enters the drawing room and Devlin acts friendly. Roger says that Devlin thinks he's responsible for Devlin going to prison. Devlin says he lived in Collinwood for over twenty years. (This involved a car accident and Burke being blamed as the driver. He vowed to return to Collinwood and take everything the Collins family had.)

Vickie enters a house and asks for Matthew. Matthew (the caretaker) comes in. Matthew says he has to fix his supper. Apparently he has a wood-fired stove. She's trying to find out if anyone in the town had any connection with the city of Bangor. He tells her Devlin was tried for manslaughter and sent away and it was 'a good thing too.'

She explains to him that she's trying to find out about her own past. She tells him she was raised in an orphanage and money, from Bangor, was sent there for her. It was $50 a month in cash. (That would have been around $400 in today's money.)

He tells her the only family connection with Bangor was the Devlin trial.

Then we go back to the drawing room. Roger threatens Burke and Burke just laughs. Burke asks Roger how his wife is. He points out that Roger's wife and Burke were very fond of each other.

Back at Matthew's, he says that he makes sure nothing bad happens to Mrs. Stoddard. Matthew tells Vickie that she should go to the state capital since Roger and his wife lived there. He tells her Roger only came back about a month ago and that it was 'the worse thing to ever happen to this house.'

Back at the drawing room Devlin asks Roger if Elizabeth would be interested in selling the house. Vikie catches Burke looking at a Roger's car near Matthew's place. Then it's back to the drawing room where Roger and Elizabeth discuss Burke's visit. Elizabeth has a discussion with Vickie when she returns. Elizabeth warns Vickie that Matthew can become violent if problems are created for her. Vickie asks her if Roger is using his car that night.
