Waitress Maggie Evans meets Barnabas when he comes to the inn where she works. After he leaves and she gets off work she has a feeling someone is watching her.

In soap operas that's about as much as happens in a single episode. Dark Shadows was a soap opera, basically, but a kind people had not previously seen. The series even went into time-traveling mode which was another rather unusual thing to do in a soap opera.
