Dark Shadows episode 6

Vickie is looking for David in a storage room. Suddenly a guy shows up and scares her. Elizabeth rescues her. The guy is Matthew who is a caretaker of sorts. Elizabeth is snippy with her and sends her upstairs. She then checks to make sure the door to the storeroom is still locked.

She hears a noise and finds David was hiding down there. They have a discussion about why she doesn't like anyone in the basement. David claims Vickie wants to hurt him. Vickie talks to Matthew about Elizabeth and her husband. Matthew tells her Elizabeth gave him a house to live in as long as he lives. He tells her all the other servants were fired.

David tells Elizabeth that he thinks as long as Vickie is there his mother will never return. Elizabeth tells David about Vickie being brought up in an orphanage.

Elizabeth has a talk with Vickie and tells her that things won't work out if David is afraid of her. She says David's mother is "away," in all likelihood from the context being in an insane asylum. Vickie tells her about being left at the orphanage, the note and the money sent monthly. Elizabeth tells her there is no connection between her husband leaving her and the money.

Vickie plans to go downtown and Carolyn's boyfriend is going to visit in an hour. Carolyn lets Vickie use her car.
