Dark Shadows episode 8

Elizabeth finds papers on the floor in Victoria's room. Carolyn enters and asks her mother why she picked Victoria to come to Collinwood to watch over David. She gives her usual answer of Roger knowing someone who knew about the foundling home.

Victoria talks to someone at the foundling home to find out if Elizabeth had really asked for her. She finds out no one had recommended her for the job after all. The home also knew nothing about Elizabeth or Roger.

Joe is coming to the house and Carolyn doesn't know why. Elizabeth says maybe she shouldn't have brought Vickie there. Elizabeth talks about letting Victoria go but Carolyn pleads for her to stay. Elizabeth also says she wants Carolyn to find her own way away from that house.

Joe tells her he has gotten a promotion at the fleet office. He also tells her he plans to buy a boat sometime during the following year. Joe wants them to get married but Carolyn doesn't want to get married just yet.

Joe wants to accomplish things on his own and is upset when Elizabeth says she thought Joe's getting a promotion would allow him and Carolyn to get married. Carolyn already suspected her mother of being the one behind the promotion.

Joe talks to Elizabeth about Burke Devlin. He tells her that Devlin offered to pay him for information about the people at Collinwood. Elizabeth gets very upset when she hears that Devlin had a lot of information about Vickie. Elizabeth tells Vickie that she is free to leave anytime she chooses. Elizabeth gets mad at Vickie.

The person at the foundling home dictates a letter to Vickie about a private detective asking questions about her.
