Crimson Pearl

First, I'm putting in the description of what happens from the Dark Shadows Wiki site. After that I'll put in my comments about the episode.

Some of the original cast members are on this productoin including Kathryn Leigh Scott, Lara Parker and David Selby.

The Crimson Pearl is an object associated with the Leviathan race. Issac Collins discovered it in 1690 and then it gets passed on. The order includes: Issac Collins to Silar Collins (1700); Issac Collins to his wife Grace Collins; via auction to Marie DuPres; from her Theodore Collins (1791); from him to Milicent Collins; from her to Daniel Collins; from him to Harriet Collins; from her (via grave theft) to Lamar Task; from him to Gregory Trask (1896); via theft to Simon Briar; from him to Angelique Collins; from her to the Dark Lord who destroys it.

Charles Tate brings it back into existence (1915); from him to Ivanka Romano; from her to alternate Ivanka in a parallel time stream; then, somehow, to Quentin Collins (1955); it goes on to Angelique Stokes then in 1973 to Carolyn Stoddard, then its back to Quentin Colins who throws it into the ocean.

My review: Issac Collins starts talking. Silas Collins gives the pearl to his wife (she's been cheating on him) put as soon as he does that the guy she's been cheating with dies. Some years later things have gotten bad for her and she's hearng voices. She plans to kill herself.

1734-the Collins family goes broke. Both his wife and child have died. It seems he also plans to kill himself. 1780 Martinique. Marie had a dream of the revolution. A voice in that dream told he she has seen her future but she could leave and have wealth. The voice mentions Josette's name. She also has to leave Paris and will be beautiful.

They left France and she left the pearl in her room. Then it's 1791. Millicent Collins has the pearl. Her parents died after she gave it to her mother and her and her father died in an accident.

1820: Millicent is in an asylum. Some guy wants it but she tells him she gave it to Daniel. Some Count wanted it and is angry at her. He vows revenge on the Collins family. 1830: Trask takes the pearl from Harriet Collins body. She had committed suicide on Widow's Hill.

Then there's a guy talking about Reverand Trask and how he's such a bad person. He was in Trask's room and stole the pearl from him. He returns to the room to steal the money he found but couldn't steal at the time. Angelique shows up she takes the pearl from him.

Angelique had been tortured and used by the Dark Lord. She says the pearl has ancient magic. He says he is powerless against such ancient magic. She will become a human woman again. He ask her what year she died in. 1795. She will die of old age.

He had used her in getting the pearl. He talks about Barnabas moving through time. Two men will summon her back into existence.

1915 and Charles Tate brings it back into being. He was under a curse and went to a gypsy to help him. He gives her the crimson pearl. She blinds him.

1916 Collinwood. The gypsy gets there. The gypsy says it's a house of death. Roger Collins is a child. She finds an odd room. She meets her parallel self. She's works at the house. The gypsys hated the Collins family for some reason. The story then shifts to the parallel time world.

Quentin Collins is writing a letter. He asks a woman to marry him. Angelique Stokes. He gives her the crimson pearl. Ivanka had given it to him. Angelique dies. She has a twin sister, Alexis. She had been in Italy and came to Collinwood. She hears whispers. She finds the pearl is missing.

1973. Carolyn had been married but her husband died. She hears the voice of her husband. It leads her to where the crimson pearl is. She talks to Maggie Evans. Carolyn shows her the pearl and says it can make a person's dreams come true. She's thinking of bringing back dead family members. Carolyn contacted Professor Stokes who sent a telegram to Quentin.

Menwhile the voice from the pearl talks about itself and what it has done. It only needs one more wish to bring it alive and it's 'masters will be free.'

Quentin writes another letter to Carolyn about the legend of the pearl that Barnabas told him. He has taken the pearl. He goes up to Widow's Hill. The pearl talks to him. She says it was made by creatures that walked before man. He asks the pearl how to stop it. He learns it has to return to the sea so he throws it into the ocean.

I think it's a good story and I like the way the story is told by different people in different times.
