Dark Shadows/Vampirella

This was a five issue series in which Vampirlla and Barnabas meet, first as enemies and then as two individuals working together to fight evil.

It makes sense bringing these two vampires together to see what will happen. The story starts in 1416 when a woman that is a vampire has been held captive and escapes. Time jumps to 1888 and the legend of Jack the Ripper, then moves on to present-day New York City.

Quentin wakes up Barnabas and we have a brief flashback. Then we find out Vampirella works with someone in the police department and she finds out about the latest woman killed which also is what is attracting Barnabas to New York City. His first meeting with Vampirella doesn't go well at first, to say the least.

Barnabas and Vampirella continue to fight and finally Barnabas gets the upper hand, but he just wants her to stop fighting long enough to let him explain what he is doing there. We soon find out who the main female villain is- Lady Bathory. She's based on a real woman that bathed in the blood of virgins, thinking it would keep her skin beautiful always. (Each era seems to have its own ultra-crazy people in it.)

Vampirella takes Barnabas into a stripper club and he has major trouble adjusting to it since his thinking is that of someone from hundreds of years before. Then the two get attacked by a bunch of vanpires working for Bathory. Quentin and Pantha arrive to help out in the fight.

Barnabas and the others defeat the attacking vampires. Vampirella takes some blood from one and has a vision of Bathory bathing in a pool of blood from the virgins she has murdered. Quentin and Pantha get captured, though, by one of Bathory's thugs, then she turns Barnabas and Vampirella against each other.

Barnabas and Vampirella get free of Bathory's control. She has gotten Pantha and Quentin under her control, though, and orders them to attack some prisoners. Barnabas and Vampirella decide to go after Bathory, but not until Barnabas has a chance to go to a church.

The final showdown. A major battle in which it looks like Barnabas and Vampirella have eliminated Bathory but that ain't necessarily so.
