Dark Shadows Gold Key #24

Title: On Borrowed Blood. The story opens with Barnabas talking to Julia Hoffman. Some rich guy ends up in a car accident and is dying unless Barnabas manages to somehow give him some blood. Barnabas is worried that the guy might become a vampire like him.

In about an hour the guy recovers and starts doing his business dealings on the phone. A guy shoots the rich guy through the heart but he lives anyhow. He becomes a vampire but his happy, wanting to take over an entire country and still living.

(Point of logic. Four times people tried to assassinate the guy. Now he's vampire and he thinks he's invincible. But this means he can never go out into the sun again and will have to sleep during daylight. That'll put a crimp on his plans.)

The guy thinks Barnabas will work with him but Barnabas just wants to stop the guy from abusing his power. The guy kills the president and takes over ruling the country. It turns out the guy's wife is in love with a rebel leader though. An insane woman sort-of witch nearly kills Barnabas.

The rebels attack but are being defeated. The guy the ruler's wife is in love with shoots the windows the evil guy blacked out and thus lets the sun in. He manages to kill the evil guy with a crossbow and the country is now free.
