Dark Shadows Gold Key #33

The title for this one is King of the Wolves. Dr. Hoffman tells Quentin she is close to a cure for him. The problem is she is going to need a lot of wolf blood. Quentin says he can get it. He plans to go to Canada since it has a lot of wolves.

Quentin gets to a store and some punk guy is accosting the woman who works there. Quentin doesn't want to fight him but the guy attacks him. Mistake. Big mistake. The same thug shows up later murdering deer but Quentin drives him off.

Wataka is killed and the camp trashed by the same thug as above. Quentin, meanwhile, is turning werewolf. Barnabas senses Quentin is in trouble and then turns into a bat. Looking that distance up on Google it seems that Barnabas, as a bat, will have to fly over 2,000 miles to get to Quentin.

Bats can go to 60 mph (one claim said up to 100 miles but I have questions about the source). So, let's say 60 mph (high end of normal bat flight) and 2000 miles means Barnabas would have to spend some 33 hours flying. In other words, even without stopping on this probably impossible flight Barnabas would never get to Quentin in time to help him.

The thug shoots Quentin from a plane. The wolves drag Quentin to safety in a cave even though he has changed back into human form. The guys trap Quentin but Barnabas arrives in, maybe, 10 hours tops. One fast bat. Anyhow, the thugs are about to shoot Quentin with a silver bullet when the wolf pack arrives and drives the men off.
