Dark Shadows #1
This series of comics is based on the newer Dark Shadows series, with artwork featuring the actors and actresses so don't expect the traditional Barnabas artwork.
The first page of the this issue has really good artwork of the person playing Victoria Winters. As in the original series, she's a governess. She sees a painting of Barnabas but sees Angelique's image appear briefly.
Doctor Hoffman has a Rolls Royce car. Then it's back to the traditional opening of the coffin by Willie. They go to the doctor's lab and, while she and Victoria talk, Barnabas kills a woman worker. The story shows Willie in the past helping Barnabas adjust to the present age.
Dr. Hoffman tells Barnabas about some nasty things that happened in the town where's she's from. The events took place back when women were killed for being suspected of witchcraft and something has caused the town water to change. It has side effects on the people there. We also find out about a would-be life companion in the past for Barnabas.
The issue then has a text section with photos entitled Dark Shadows: The History Behind the Legend. There is also an interview with the illustrator.
Dark Shadows #2
The cure that Julia is working on causes Barnabas a lot of pain. David continues to be a pain for Victoria. Julia gets a letter asking her to return to her home town. Barnabas and Victoria have a thing going on. There's a reference to Sarah Collins. Barnabas and Julia run into trouble in her home town.
Dark Shadows #3
Barnabas and Julia are captured by mutated beings and a vicious, know-it-all preacher. Roger and Maggie have a thing going on. Sarah makes another appearance, and Julia gets to watch Barnabas sleep. There's backstory on Angelique.
Dark Shadows #4
Willie is on the way to help Barnabas. The insane preacher plans to kill Julia and Barnabas. Instead, he and his mutated flock are dealt with thoroughly. There's more back story on Anelique and Josette's music box.
