Just Another Day

The DOD has shut down Eureka and much of the material there is being moved out or has already gone. There's a problem with wormholes. Jo asks Zane to marry her. Some generous benefactor, whom we've seen before, buys Eureka himself and thus the people keep their jobs, GD keeps gong on, and Eureka survives. A good conclusion to the series.

What the episode is showing, of course, is the tendency of Big Government and especially Big Business to treat people like garbage. The system in use today is no better than the way the Kings of olden times treated everyone under them as dispensable. The rulers have no actual concern for those under them, no sympathy at all. It's always 'what have you done for me today' as an approach. The workers are also considered not just dispensable but of lower intelligence than those who run the businesses even though those who run the businesses generally haven't done an honest day's work in their entire life.
