Beck Beyond the Sea

This is another in the Disney series of Fairies books. This one is about Beck, an animal-talent fairy. She wants to see more of the world, and tries some methods to allow her to do that but they don't work. Then she accidentally ends up running into Vidia, who offers her some fairy dust of a kind that is made from the feathers of Mother Dove.

This is where a moral of the book comes in; no matter how badly you might want something, there should be a limit to what you will agree to in order to get it.

Beck takes the dust and, while flying with some birds, gets a message from Mother Dove that she is under attack. Beck tries to fly back, but that's when she finds out Vidia's depth of betrayal and she nearly pays for her agreement with Vidia with her life.

Beck stays by Mother Dove and catches the feather-thief, and it's very easy to figure out who that is.

This is a slightly darker book than most of the others in the series. It also raises a question of level of punishment. At least in my opinion, Vidia is not given anywhere near the type of punishment she should get. She has stolen feathers from Mother Dove (on more than one occasion), and she nearly got Beck killed. I am somewhat surprised that she was not exiled from Neverland.

Still, it's a book worth getting.
