Girl, Interrupted Screenplay

This is the screenplay version of Girl, Interrupted. It has a really interesting discussion with the movie's director along with storyboards and some pictures (black and white) from the movie.

The beginning of the book has an interview with the screenplay writer. He read the first script for the movie and was not overly impressed. He then read the book it is based on and began thinking about what could be done with the proposal.

He decided the emphasis should be on the rational mind vs. the irrational mind. One rejected idea was the concept of a monster from the mind. The interview talks about the relationship of the movie to The Wizard of Oz book and movie. The section goes on to talk about how the actresses were chosen.

It's interesting to read the screenplay and find the scenes that were actually cut out (among the "extras" on the dvd) and find out about the history of the film and why certain people are in it. If you liked the film then you'll definitely want to get this book.
