Susanne Kaysen in Girl, Interrupted

This is an article I found online and I am just going to point out its main points.

The movie and book differ greatly from each other.

Some characters in the movie are not in the book.

Their personalities may also differ.

Lisa is more prominent in the movie.

Kaysen's symptoms of insanity are overshadowed by Lisa's.

Georgina does not have a lot of screen time in the movie.

Jamie is a character in the movie but not in the book.

The nature of the events may also differ.

The film makes it look like Lisa's actions are what led Daisy to commit suicide.

The film version makes it look like the hospital is a fantasy paradise.

Some of the film's characters don't really display much of any psychological problems.

The memoir lacks structure.

Winona Ryder did an excellent job but her character has little resemblance to that in the book.

The level of insanity of the people in the movie is lower than that of the people in the book.

The film has less attention on the actual personalities of the people than the book does.
