Cheeky Angel, volumes 7 and 8

Volume 7

Keiko is still causing problems for Megumi. Meg helps a boy against some thugs, but Keiko takes him to train him how to fight for himself. Genzo sides with Keiko on the idea that the boy has to be trained to fight for himself.

Still, he keeps getting beaten up and Keiko says she's disappointed in him. The boy doesn't want to be a fighter or to necessarily be strong.

Megumi realizes there's a lot she doesn't know about Megumi. Miki says she's found someone and that bums Megumi out. Miki later points out she's engaged to the guy. Megumi meanwhile is trying to figure out her actual relationship with Miki.

Megumi confronts the grandfather to try to get the arranged marriage stopped but he refuses. Megumi decides she's going to find a way to stop the engagement, but she has only a day to do that.

Volume 8

The group vows to help Miki stay out of the marriage proposal, but she says it's an obligation that her family has. Meg's plan is to kidnap Miki and force the engagement to be called off. There's also a brief section with the guy she's engaged to in it and he's a creep.

(In Japan arranged marriages are still relatively common. It's also not unusual for such a marriage to be used to unite two wealthy families or business interests, as in Miki's case.)

Megumi begins to put a plan into effect. It's complex and it ends up with her fighting the creep. The guy is a vicious, crude, sadistic piece of garbage and that's in his best moments.
