No Need for Tenchi, Volumes 1, 2

Volume 1

The first volume starts out by summarizing things that have happened so far.

1. Tenchi releasing Ryoko from her prison and her wanting the jewels from his sword.

2. The arrival of a spaceship with Ayeka and Sasami and Ryoko's involvement.

3. Ryo-oh-ki's appearance and everyone living in Tehchi's father's house.

4. Ayeka finds out her b rother, Yosho, is still alive.

5. The arrival of yet another spaceship and person, Mihoshi.

6. The appearance of the evil Kagato. His defeat with the aid of Washu.

Tenchi is training with Yosho. The group goes on a picnic. Some woman suddenly appears and talks about Kagato. She looks just like Ryoko, except for the clothes she's wearing. The two Ryokos end up in a massive fight, but 'our' Ryoko wins.

They find out her name is Minagi. She's suffering from amnesia after the fight. Minagi leaves but encounters a spaceship. A guy named Yakagi suddenly appears at the house. He captures Ayeka and leaves. Tenchi is going to go after him but Ryoko disables Tenchi and takes off after the guy herself.

It turns out Washu is also on board the spaceship and she knows how to track Yakagi. They encounter his ship and its incredibly huge compared to theirs. Ryoko and Ayeka talk and Ryoko slaps her and then tells her why she did that. Ryoko fights Yakagi and loses.

Volume 2

Washu brings Ryoka back. Washu explains that Yakage was once one of her assistants. Mihosi, Tenchi, Washu and Ryoka go to rescue Ayeka. On Yakage's ship they find Minagi. Minagi confronts Yakage and asks him to release Ayeka. Yakage appears to kill Minagi.

Yakage insists on battling Tenchi. Washu says that Yakage is not the original one; he's a clone, basically. Ryoko is injured and Tenchi is ready to take on Yakage. Yakage is defeated and it's revealed that Minagi was his daughter. Minagi turns out to be alive.

Minagi leaves to become a space pirate, preying only on evil people.

Tenchi tries to soak in a hot springs and Ryoko shows up, nude, making Ayeka (who wears a towel) angry. Tenchi catches a cold and Ryoko and Ayeka try to take care of him. Mihoshi ends up catching a cold and Tenchi, now healed, takes care of her.

Ryoko bets Sasami that Mihoshi can never get her driver's license. She crashes again and again and then gets involved in a car chase after some guys that kidnapped a girl. Everything turns out all right.
