New Tenchi Muyo, volumes 9 and 10

Volume 9

In the first story the group is playing a baseball game and there's a strange guy scouting Ryoko, wanting her to play for the team he represents.

Which doesn't happen to be from Earth.

Ryoko made Sasami's lunch. The lunch tries to eat people. She wants to make a special dish for Tenchi's birthday. An assassin appears and poisons the food which actually makes it almost edible.

Washu tries to construct an instrument that can figure out Mihoshi's ability to mess up things and still have things generally turn out all right. It turns out to be a rather disappointing story.

The next story starts with a short recap of the Kagato event. Apparently a crook steals something that can have DNA extracted to make a duplicate of Tenchi's mother. The evil being behind all of this is Suzuka. Then the story goes into the villain's background which is a fairly sad one. She ended up with Kagato and worshiped him. She made the clone of Tenchi's mother to get even with his killing Kagato.

Volume 10

This volume is called Long Goodbyes.

The fake copy of Tenchi's mother is still there. She tires to sew discord whenever she can. She begins to act very oddly, though, when she devours a carrot and kisses Tenchi.

Tsunami then tells Sasami that the woman is not the real Kiyone. Tsunami and Sasami are captured. Later Tenchi and some of the others are shifted to another dimension. A character named Tokimi appears.

The fake Kiyone nearly kills Tenchi. Ryoko frees him, but Kioyone starts to kill her. It become a battle of wills and feelings of people, and Tenchi finally does what is necessary.
