No Need for Tenchi, Volumes 9 and 10

Volume 9

Ryoko has a nightmare. The group is running out of money and Ayeka asks her father for some, but he says no. Ryoko seems to remember a treasure on some planet and the group plans to go there and retrieve it. Yataka is the evil guy that pursues them to get the treasure for himself.

They get to the planet and Ryoko meets a guy who ends up hugging her. The guy's name is Ibara and he and Ryoko had once fought over a loan Jurai-type tree growing there. The pirate attacks and takes Ayeka prisioner and says he'll trade her for the tree.

There's a battle with the pirate and a robotic device on board. The true nature of the tree is revealed along how Ryoko fell in love with Tenchi even before she met him.

Volume 10

A group of elementary school students wander by while Ryo-oh-ki in partially-transformed form and the others are picking carrots. She takes off with the class while one of the class remains behind. Things go well until Ryoko has to bring the one kid back, drops him, and Ryo-oh-ki has to transform into a spaceship to save him.

The kids accept it, though, and they all love it.

The group goes to a beach. Ryoko's wearing a bikine; Akane and Mihosi are wearing one-piece outfits. Some guys want to build a marine park and an old woman doesn't want them to and talks about an angry sea god. Ryoko and Sasami try to pass themselves off as a sea-monster but Ayeka messes it up, but Washu saves the day until the monster runs amok. Then a fossil saves the day.

Sasami gets upset about something that happened at the house. Funaho comes to visit and is out with Tenchi when the are attacked. Mother Misaki has also shown up for a visit. There's a problem with monkeys raiding rice crops since their nut trees are not producing, but Sasami's mother helps solve that problem.
