Wada Kanako: Dear

This cd was done in 1989 and has the following songs:

1. Aka to Kuro (Red and Black) (4:47): the instruments used for the musical backing are often annoying in this cut; they definitely detract from her singing and it seems that they also tend to be louder than her singing, so overall the song is basically average in quality.

2. Dreamin' Lady (4:36): This one reminds me a lot of her Kimagure Orange Road singing; excellent without a doubt.

3. Honeymoon (5:16): another good song.

4. If (5:11): This one is a more upbeat type of song, still a lot like the KOR singing style but somewhat more lush and complex.

5. Tokubetsu Seat (Special Seat) (4:17): this one just doesn't really strike me as being as good as the other songs on the cd.

6: Nagareru you ni (Like a Stream) (5:03): a good, but fairly average song

7. Crescent Moon (3:55): Very pretty, kept relatively simple and thus showcasing her voice quality better than If. Gentle type of song, sort of in the style of a torch song.

8. Le Vent Doux (The Sweet Wind) (4:41): another pretty song, again sort of jazzy.

9. See You (4:09): this one is vaguely jazzy with a lot of electronic keyboard used, to the detriment of the quality of the song. When emphasis is on instuments/styles/fancy effects, the songs suffer; they do their best when Wada Kanako is allowed to sing, simply and plainly, showing just how great her voice is.
