Succubus Blues

The novel deals with good and evil beings. Angels are real, along with succubi, vampires, demons, imps and so on.

Georgina is a succubus. Hugh is an imp that she knows. Georgina does a favor for Hugh, shape-changing herself and having sex with a guy who sold his soul to the devil. Afterwards, she meets a vampire she doesn't like much (Duane).

In the rather humorous way the book starts, it's revealed that Georgina has a supervisor who happens to be a demon (Jerome). She also feeds off of losers, she says.

She has a day job at a bookstore.

There's also an angel named Carter.

Jerome tells her that Duane has been killed by a vampire hunter.

She gets to meet her favorite author at the bookstore. She goes home, and there's more vampires waiting to talk to her, but they're friends of hers. She's not sure if she's in danger, even though she's not a vampire.

She meets a guy named Roman who wants to date her. She's reluctant to date mortals, though, since having sex with them causes her to take some of their life energy from them.

Someone attacks Hugh and injures him, leaving a note for Georgina on her apartment door. Georgina thinks the attacker might be an immortal, perhaps an angel that has become a vigilante.

Another being is murdered, but this time it's an angel. Georgina is attacked, and later talks to Hugh and the others. They determine it's a Nephilim doing the attacking.

The novel then tells about how Georgina became a succubus. It's really an interesting sub-story.

The murderer is Jerome's child by a mortal woman.

Things get even more complicated when it turns out there are two Nephilim around, and Carter is the target for their wrath. Seth shows up at Georgina's apartment at the worst possible time, and there's a monumental good vs. evil battle.

Overall a pretty decent book. I'd rate it as very good; not quite excellent.
