The chapters alternate between Jill and, yes, Jack.

Jack and Jill.

Jill McTeague is a high school senior. Four days each month her body changes into a male form, which is named Jack. The changes are painful and very scary for her. She has developed some mental techniques to help her after the change is over, but there is no way to stop it from happening.

Her best friend is a girl named Ramie.

The first chapter from Jack's viewpoint shows that he's a very angry male, very unhappy with his lot. He also seems somewhat sneaky.

She and Ramie are working on a plan so Jill can get a certain boy to ask her to the prom. They work on plans to get the guy Jill is interested in to pay attention to her.

Jack has fallen for Jill's friend Ramie. Although he's supposed to remain in Jill's room, one night he decides to go outside in order to spy on Ramie outside her window.

The guy she's interested in turns out to be bisexual, and Jack is a homophobe. Her mother says “A bisexual man is a gay man in training.” Jill drops the guy like he's a hot potato.

At this point, I've decided to skim the rest of the book rather than reading it uflly like a I normally do.

Jack and Ramie make out. Jill still ends up liking the guy, but Ramie is worried about whether or not he has AIDS. Even skimming this book is turning out to be a bother.

The other kids at school get on Tommy (her boyfriend) and Jill's faces with their anti-homosexual remarks.

The story gets even worse.

This is, without doubt, the absolute WORST young-adult novel I have ever read, bar none.
