Dead to the World
The fourth book in this series. Bill is continuing to work with his vampire database. She's dealing with her breakup with Bill. Late at night she comes across Eric along in the woods, half-clothed and having no idea who he is. He's been attacked by a witch, apparently, and Sookie lets him stay overnight at her place. Sookie and Jason find out what has happened to Eric and why, and it looks like Sookies' going to be in danger again because she'll be taking care of Eric and trying to keep the wrong people from finding out he's staying with her. Then Jason goes missing. Witchcraft becomes part of the story as Sookie thinks a particular group might have taken Jason. Sookie gets to meet even more were-people and some witches that will help them. Everything builds to a major full-scale battle between the group of evil witches, who want to take over everything that is profitable in Bon Temps, and who took Eric's memory, and a mixture of good witches, werewolves, and Sookie. There's loads of blood and various deaths and, at the end, Sookie still doesn't know where Jason is. That turns into another search since she thought the evil witches had him and they actually didn't. Then, in her own home, Sookie has to kill someone, something that is necessary but upsets her, nevertheless. This is an excellent book in the series, really, really good. |
