Greywalker

Harper Blaine is a private investigator who is viciously beaten and dies.

For two minutes.

She's brought back to life, but isn't the same as before; she can now start to see the world of the Grey, a place where ghosts, vampires and other beings exist.

The problem is, she isn't really very happy about it. Things get rapidly worse for her as some guy hires her to find an organ (which has its own story to tell), and she has to interact with a ghost that doesn't like her very much, then deal with vampires and vampire politics.

There are a couple of people trying to help her adjust to her new life, and one of them is a witch, but neither of them is experienced enough to know exactly what she is having to deal with, including things that could very possibly kill her.

The book takes a while to get going, sort of like some British dramas, but it's still very good and absolutely worth reading.
