In this House of Night book Zoey and her friends, and multiple boyfriends, make their stand against Kolona, Neferet and the Raven Mockers. Most of the House of Night students and staff are under Kalona's spell, but a very few are not. There's also a whole parcel of nuns that are ready, and Zoey's grandmother.
Zoey gets severely injured, though, and very nearly dies for the final time. Nor is she the only one to be injured, as this will be a moderately violent settling of affairs.
Which is where the book has its problem. The ending is not satisfactory at all. Granted, it sets up the way for future novels in the series, but it just doesn't fit all the build-up to this grand battle that was expected.
