Ill Wind

This is the first of a series of books about something that is usually not covered in young adult fiction – weather.

There are a group of people called weather wardens who work to hold down the amount of bad weather than happens; apparently, overall weather would be a lot worse if it wasn't for their efforts.

Joanne is one of these, her specialty being wind and water. There are also fire wardens, and earth wardens.

Joanne's problem is that she is sort of responsible for the death of another warden, something which doesn't endear her to the weather warden bureaucracy.

In fact, it appears at least one person, if not more, is actively out to kill her.

That would be bad enough, but she has a demon mark, a malevolent creature growing inside her. There's a djinn she meets along the way, djinn's being apparently real and quite helpful for controlling the weather.

If they're not trying to kill you at the same time, of course.

It's a really, really fun read, very different from most other books, yet still having fantasy elements in it that are more traditional in nature. Absolutely worth getting.
