Inhuman

This is a very dark book about government control of anyone who is different. Cassia's birth is unusual, and after she has grown up the wrong people find out she is genetically unique. She is taken by a group calling themselves Majestic 12; she's interrogated, drugged and even raped by those holding her.

Fortunately there is one that comes to her aid, but she is now pregnant and together the two have to flee, trying to avoid the group chasing her and trying to return to a place where Cassia can get some answers to just what she is.

The answers are not exactly what one is led to expect, and the ending of the book is slightly unrealistic from a practical viewpoint.
