Shakespeare's Landlord

This is another mystery from the prolific writer Charlaine Harris. The main female character in this one starts out as a rather mysterious woman who does washing and house-cleaning for other people. Her name is Lily Bard, and she has a hidden past.

She's out walking one night and finds someone dumping a body of a landlord, and from that point on her life begins to spin out of control. She has to deal with a particular policeman who wants to find out what has been going on, and what did she know about the murder. She has to deal with a new boyfriend, and she ends up revealing just what happened in her past to drive her so far into herself.

Being a mystery, there's a number of possible suspects, someone who seems to be trying to terrorize Lily, and Lily's own investigation into what has been going on. She also has to handle the fact that she gets jumped at night by some guy, and is able to defend herself with her growing knowledge of martial arts.

It's a very interesting book with a well-developed central character and a couple interesting mysteries.
