Thirsty

The book starts off with the legend of an ancient Vampire Lord who brought vampirism to the area, and who was banished by the Forces of Light into another world. There is a Sad Festival of Vampries to honor the rituals. It takes place in Massachusetts.

Vampires, though, still exist.

Chris is the boy's name. He has an older brother who plans to take him to a vampire lynching. He says that vampires are not given a trial; they are assumed guilty of murder because they are vampires. It's a young female vampire that is hung, and it seems as if she knows Chris. He has also been eating a lot lately.

He has two friends, Tom and a kid they call Jerk.

He has a fight with Tom, and meets a guy in black who claims to be from the Forces of Light, and tells Chris that he's turning into a vampire. The guy says Chris is still part human and part vampire, and he wants him to serve as a spy on the vampires, since they will think he's one of them. The vampire lord plans to have the ritual upset by the vampires so he can escape, and Chris is to stop this somehow.

He later gets a letter from some vampires inviting him to a sort of party. He has major trouble sleeping at night, and is always thirsty for something.

He later gets a letter from a girl vampire. Something follows him. Later, he goes, unwillingly, on a vampire hunt with Jerk and Tom. Chet, the Celestial Being, destroys the thing chasing Chris. Chet has the device he needed, and now it's time to try and stop the vampires.

He journeys to the world of the vampire lord, and then returns to Earth. The thing that had been following Chris arrives and claims it's from the Forces of Light, and then Chet shows up.

Things go downhill for Chris, and, by the end of the book, it's obvious that Chris is a big-time loser. A very downer of a book, but still fairly good.
