Undead and Unworthy

The book starts right off humorously. Betsy and Sinclair are having sex, and suddenly Betsy notices that the ghost of her step-monster has suddenly appeared!

Then, moments later, she's attacked by one of the fiends, and Garret comes in and tells her they have awakened and want to kill her.

The Fiends get lose and break in to kill Betsy, but she and the others escape through a tunnel (which she never knew was there.) Garrett has agoraphobia.

Detective Nick Berry comes to Betsy and Sinclair for help. Seems some rogue cop (or cops) have been killing bad guys totally outside of the legal system.

The Fiends attack again. Two of them are killed, but Marc is injured. Later Betsy is attacked by a single fiend, but Laura destroys it. Then Antonio comes home, in werewolf form, with a dead fiend as a present.

Later, Betsy has to face the remaining fiends alone. Nick is there, but as a prisoner. Sort of. Anyhow, Betsy gets the remaining three Fiends under control, but Nick and Jessica end up ending their relationship. Nick just plain wants Betsy dead, period.

The book has a very sad event when two of the characters are killed, permanently.

This is yet another excellent book in the series, but it is perhaps a little darker than any of the ones that have gone before, and there's not quite as much humorous banter as in the other novels. The banter in this one is much more serious.
