A Wife in Time

This is another Harlequin manga romance. I got it since I am interested in time travel. The novel is also complete in itself. In addition, it's not just a time travel novel, but it's also a mystery novel.

The two main characters are Kane Wilder and Susannah Hall. At their first meeting Kane tells Susannah to stop trying to seduce his brother, and she has no idea at all what he is talking about.

Susannah goes to a party at a house built in the 19th century. Kane is there and continues to be nasty to her. His great-grandmother died in the house, supposedly a suicide. Susannah hears a voice and follows it (and Kane follows her), and they see a bright light. The great-grandmother asks Susannah to clear her name.

Enter the time-travel part of the story where the two of them end up back in 1884. For once, an author approaches that event with logic. Kane realizes that they need money ( he plays poker), they need to find a place to stay, and they need to explain why they are not wearing clothes from that time.

They also engage the services of a detective, another very logical step. Between the three of them they investigate the people involved with the great-grandmother and find a couple of suspects. They also develop a plan for trying to get back to the present time.

The romance part is normal, with the two of them not getting along at all in the start, then getting along just fine at the end.
