The author starts off with talking about Plato (350 B.C.) and the story of the shadow in the cave and the reality that lies beyond the shadow. He then moves on to talk about how some people believe there are "veils between the worlds" such as at Halloween when spirits are supposed to be able to pass between realities.

The author also addresses the issue of people who go missing and that maybe a small number of them accidentally end up in another reality and are unable to get back to this one. He has examples of people who have appeared in this reality that didn't seem to actually belong here and were quite confused at being here.

He even talks about an example of someone driving and seeing a lizard man on the road which is not impossible if you have a reality where the dinosaurs did not die out but evolved to eventually become intelligent bipeds.

He didn't point out that a 'slip between realities' could explain such mysteries as the loss of Flight 19 and various other planes and ships that have gone missing in the Bermuda Triangle and other places. (Not the "could" explain.) This is also a theme that has been used in various television shows such as Fringe where the two realities threatened to smash into each other.

There is a theological problem to consider, also. If we exist in a multitudes of selves spread across a multitude of parallel realities then does the human soul exist in pieces, or is there a separate soul for each form of ourselves that exists in different realities?

Also, what would cause a hole of some kind to appear between realities allowing someone or something to cross between them? Further, what would happen if some microbe crossed the realities and infected people here? Also, could UFOs not be from other planets but from a parallel reality where the human race was more technically advanced than we are?
