Mysteries of Ancient America: Uncovering the Forbidden

The book mainly deals with the area from New York through Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky. It goes into a discussion of various Native American mounds, skeletons (regular and giant), battles among Native Americans and mounds and related structures.

It also covers ancient cities, ancient roads and stones with images on them.

There are several odd things. One of the stones shows men attacking a mammoth. The last one of those died about about 4,000 years ago. Studies have shown that mammoths did exist when they could have been hunted by humans.

There is also a legend of a race of white people with yellow hair who lived in the area before anyone from Europe supposedly arrived. These people were wiped out by the Native Americans, though.

The third thing is a fairly large number of skeletons of humans who were giants, some eight or nine feet tall. Here is where we run into a major problem. Almost all scientists say that there was no race of giants, that the skeletons that have been proposed as those of giants were either totally fake (to display and make some money off of) or were regular humans who suffered from something like agromegaly which is a medical condition that causes unusual growth.

The problem with the second explanation is that too many skeletons have been found that would considered giants. It's a rare disorder yet the number of skeletons found seems to be fairly high (for example 43 in one state alone.) The other thing is that the Bible itself says 'there were giants in those days' which would be an unusual thing just to make up.

Another problem with this, though, is that these reports in the book are mostly from the 1800's with a few from the 1700's so whatever skeletons that might have been found have been lost since then although there are some people that think such skeletons do exist but are kept from public display since they would indicate something the scientists say did not exist actually did exist.

I think it was a very interesting book.
