The Real Cowboys and Aliens

A book like this is very important to those interested in UFOs. There's a common misconception that UFO sightings in America started in the United States in 1947 with the Kenneth Arnold sighting.

This book shows very clearly that the UFO sightings in our country go back to the 1860's at least. The sightings are similar in many ways to those that happen in today's world and it clearly shows that UFOs were around way back then.

It's also interesting to consider the culture of the time where the people then had none of the scientific knowledge about technology about extraterrestrial planets and possible extraterrestrial life.

The book also has photos, artwork and newspaper articles from the time of the sighting.

This review will be more detailed then the one I have put up on Goodreads.

An 1869 sghting is from Nevada which two men referring to a fireball and and some kind of rays coming from it. This could, of course, have simply been a meteor that was disintigrating.Another from the same year involved a total solar eclipse and the sighting of 120 objects that were unidentified.

A third sighting from the same year was in Pennsylvania and had aUFO landing. An 1870 sighting is from near where Area 51 currently is located. The book says there is a Native American legend about little beings with big heads abducting people.

An 1873 sighting is noted for its appearance of the MIBs (Men in Black).Another 1873 sighting was of a cigar-shaped UFO.

Here is something important. Sightings back then might be claimed to be flying serpents or dragons. The thing is that people at that time had to describe things in relation to what they knew existed or did exist and that hey were familar with.

So for some of these sightings we can assume what they saw as a UFO and not a dragon or something like that.
