Ohio Ghost Stories and Spooky Legends: The Classics

This is a book that examines the various regions of Ohio and goes into a lot of stories about ghosts being seen there. The book has at least one photo if not more for each story although the photos are the places and not the ghosts.

The stories vary in whether it refers to male or female ghosts and to the cause of death that resulted in the person dying supposedly becoming a ghost. I expected that more men would die violent deaths and end up as ghosts then women would but I was surprised at results.

Breaking down death cause and male/female ghosts resulting these are the results I came up with (the book does not do this, by the way; this was my own idea).

Death by murder: 13 males, 10 females.

Accidental death: 8 males, 3 females.

Unknown cause of death: 9 males, 9 females.

Drowning: 1 male, no females.

Suicide: 4 males, 1 female.

Execution for a crime committed: 1 male, 1 female.

There were also two references to Bigfoot sightings and a number of references to lights/ghost lights that were seen.

The author does a good job of covering such a wide area and the stories she tells are quite interesting, although at times somewhat upsetting.
